Who we are
Sooo, where do we even begin. So much heart has gone into the development of Winnie’s.
Winnie’s was founded by Whitney’s youngest sister, Annie Krage, with the help of the others, Allie and Sam Dailey. Whitney notoriously stated, “I don’t wanna grow up, I’m only good at being young,” a quote that can be found written on the bar top at our location. We want you to feel forever young when you’re at Winnie’s.
You might wonder how we came upon combining clothes and NA drinks… Well, Whitney influenced everything we put into this. She had stated she wanted to own a clothing store one day and loved fashion; she even created her own jewelry for awhile. Whitney believed in living life to the fullest and loved gathering together with friends and family to have a great time. Unfortunately, her struggles with alcohol got in the way from her living this life longer. Because of this, we wanted to create a gathering space with provisions that are beneficial for your health, instead of detrimental, in hopes of fostering positive change in our community.
With this theme of health & wellness, we felt it only right to extend it to Mother Earth as well. We want to contribute only good in this world and limiting waste is one way we can and will do that. We’re excited to offer curated secondhand clothing, allowing you to find unique items while shopping sustainably. We are also committed to no one-use plastics in our establishment. Love ya Mother, am I right?
But we want to talk about Whitney a little more - she was just so dang special. Whitney grew up in Sioux City, IA and graduated from East High in 2005. She went on to become a flight attendant, and spent much of her 20s and 30s traveling the world. Travel was a big part and love of her life. She lived it up in New York City, Chicago, and Dallas, where she had a very active social life. She loved attending parties, dressing up, and making sure everyone was having a good time. She was funny, sassy, and straight up - she’d really tell ya like it is. She can truly be best described as “full of life.” Winnie will live in our hearts forever, and we hope she’ll touch yours too.
